The Best Version of You

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

The old adage, “Do not judge the book by its cover” is still holding some truth in today’s digital age.

With all the curated photos everybody would post on social media, people are unintentionally learning the habit of judging someone’s worth based on what they can see on their naked eye. And this sometimes leaves us devastated, judging our own selves.

Setbacks on relationships, finances, school or career can be inevitable. You might have reached a doubtful point in your life with questions like

“Am I not really qualified enough?”
“Are my knowledge and skills not good enough to land on my dream job?”
“Do I deserve to be left behind just because I am not perfect enough?”

Or if maybe you are searching for your importance on the wrong places, then it’s time to stop.

Nobody has the right to make conclusions about you according to what they can see on the surface. They weren’t there as you toss and turn on those sleepless nights, thinking how to survive the next day. They didn’t see how you fought your inner struggles to keep up with the demands on your daily life. They didn’t know how you persevered just to overcome.

You don’t have to convince anyone that you are worthy and able to do more than their expectations. Sadly, you may cross paths with people who will take advantage of you, then would leave you behind once you are no longer pleasing them. You won’t really see your worth from those who will underestimate you even if they haven’t seen yet how you work so hard to improve yourself.

Trust that there will still be people who would see that precious gem in you. They will be confident to accept you and believe that you can make a great contribution to their lives. Be thankful if you already have this kind of people in your life. Give them your best.

At the end of the day, whether you are at the peak or in the valley, you are worthy. With all those flaws and imperfections, you are still important. You are at your best when you know how to love, forgive and accept yourself, no matter what the season is.

I will never become a self-love advocate if I myself have never experienced battling against my inner struggles and weaknesses. I am continuously learning to be the greatest lover of myself. And I believe that you are an overcomer, too. Keep going and learning. ❤️
